We started this journey in 2008 and the support from our participants has been tremendous!!participants

More than 30,000 people from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador have participated in the Atlantic PATH study. Atlantic Canadians from Port aux Basques, NL to Ingonish, NS, Alma, NB, and Alberton, PEI, have shared information with us, as well as blood, urine and saliva samples, toenail clippings and even their tap water.

Follow-up Questionnaire

We are rolling out a Catch-up Questionnaire. Please let us know if you would like to complete this online or have a paper copy sent to you by mail.

The Atlantic PATH Research Platform is being enriched by adding routinely collected personal health information about our participants through linkage to provincial health databases in Atlantic Canada. More information about linkage is available here.

Participants read about the study, asked questions and clarifications, and gave consent prior to completing the questionnaires and giving biological samples. You consented:

  1. for your personal health information and biological samples to be collected, stored, and used in de-identified format by qualified Canadian and International Researchers;
  2. enriched by adding their routinely collected information through linkage for the next 30 years; and
  3. to be contacted for follow-up information and for future research projects.

Withdrawal options:

Participation is completely voluntary and you may change their level of involvement:

  1. No further contact – We will not contact participants for more information. The information that has already been given will continue to be included in future research projects.
  2. No further use/complete withdrawal – We will not include the information you provided in future research projects and we will not get in touch for more information.
  3. No linkage – We will not ask government departments or organizations for your past, present or future routinely collected information. However, we will continue to include the information and biological samples already given in future research projects.
